CAP HAITIAN, HAITI

The international work of Port of Hope began at the Port of Cap Haitian, Haiti in 2002. Pastor Raphael Mathieu has faithfully taken the Gospel of Jesus Christ to seafarers from the Caribbean, Central America and the Philippines and Europe as well as Haiti. He is able to share Christ in Haitian Creole, French, Spanish and English.

Pastor Raphael has faced many difficulties at the port. He waded through the devastation of the port immediately after it was ransacked during the last coup. He has often faced strong opposition from Voodoo-following captains who wanted him off their ship. He has been propositioned by women around the port and has suffered typhoid fever and amoeba from food and water served to him on the ship.

In spite of this, hundreds of seafarers have responded to an invitation to accept Christ as their savior or to have special prayer.

Men like Pastor Raphael are few and far between. We're privileged to have him on our team.
