We will also be seeking a chaplain who will visit the towboats and operators. We request that a chaplain:
- be willing to serve in an workplace style of chaplaincy which seeks permission, and partners with, the industry to care for and encourage all employees to be better members of their work, home and social community, to encourage moral living and faith in God and when appropriate, present Jesus Christ as Savior and encourage personal faith Christ,
- be in agreement with the Standard of Faith and Statement on Social Issues of Port of Hope Ministries and Twin Cities Towboat Ministries,

The chaplain will be trained in tracking the boat's arrival, getting permission to visit the towboats, onboard safety, crew courtesy and care, and spiritual care, both in person and e-mail, Internet social networking and cell phone.
In addition, the ministry will work hard to remain above reproach in our contact with the crew members and shore workers. We maintain strict policies regarding personal relationships with seafarers, which includes what constitutes appropriate and inappropriate touching, how, when and where to meet workers on the towboats and shore work areas, and how to share your faith in an appropriate and timely manner.
This can become a rewarding personal chaplain ministry. It is a wonderful opportunity for couples to work together in ministry. As you climb board the towboat and mingle with the crew you will serve and encourage your river-based friends through your love and compassion of Jesus Christ and, when it is appropriate, share your faith in a respectful and caring way.
